AREA / DEVELOPMENT INFO

Cato Ridge
A massive development in Cato Ridge which is expected to take place within the next decade, is being punted as the "Midrand" of KwaZulu-Natal. The eThekwini Municipality is considering a number of plans from companies and groups for a proposed Midrand-type development, which is expected to generate huge investment in the corridor between the two cities. During his Budget Vote speech in Parliament, Ndebele announced five key transport projects, which would be undertaken in the next five years in the Durban-Johannesburg corridor: The five projects include developing Cato Ridge as a dry port, the sale of the Durban International Airport to Transnet, who plans to build there a dug out port.
